Which Apple Watch model should I get? Discuss the differences and features of Apple Watch Series 1-4.

Apple just launched the new Apple Watch a few weeks ago, and Apple fans can’t wait to explore the new designs and updated features invented by another Apple watch. Over the years, Apple has introduced 4 Apple Watches to the market: Apple Watch Series 1, Apple Watch Series 2, Apple Watch Series, 3 Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Series 5. In this article, we will guide you through the features and differences between these four Apple Watch models so that you can more easily find the best choice!

Design

When Apple Watch was released in April 2015, it only provided a set of internal functions-called the "Series 0". In September 2016, Apple announced two new feature variants called Series 1 and Series 2. In September 2017, users were provided with three different series options: the existing series 1, series 3 GPS only and series 3 GPS + cellular network.

Until Apple Watch 4 and 5, the watch series have been very similar in design. Apple Watch 4 and 5 marked the first 40mm or 44mm size variants. This allows for a slightly larger screen and digital crown.

Reminder: Only Apple Watch 2 and Apple Watch 3 are waterproof, so don't wear the latest Apple Watch 4 to the swimming pool! Apple Watch Series 1 is only splash-proof, while the Apple Watch Series 3 option is water-resistant up to 50 meters, so you can take them for swimming or wear them in the shower.

Performance - Features

All versions of Apple Watch are equipped with a heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor. Apple Watch 3 is the first to support altimeter, and Apple Watch 4 is the first to have ECG function. Compared with Apple Watch 3, the new ECG function is likely to be a major upgrade of Apple Watch 4.

Except for Apple Watch 3 which is 768MB, each watch has 512MB of RAM. Apple has not officially announced the details of Apple Watch 4. I think the most obvious difference must be the screen size and display.

Compared with Apple Watch 1 and 2, Apple Watch Series 3 has reached an upgrade milestone: enhanced anti-swimming and direct-fire speakers, GPS and running tracking, double-bright Retina display, and a new S3 dual-core processor, which is better than Series 1. S1P is 1.7 times faster. It is also equipped with an altimeter for height tracking, voice Siri response and Apple's W2 wireless chip, which can be easily paired with your iPhone and wireless accessories.

Performance - Screen Display

Apple Watch Series 4 has a larger display with rounded edges, making full use of the available space, and the design is bolder. The 40 mm series 4 has a display area of 759 square meters, and the 38 mm series 3 has a display area of 563 square meters.

Apple Watch Series 4 provides a larger display that can make better use of the case size, improved accelerometer, fall detection, Bluetooth 5.0 and electronic heart sensor, which will eventually allow users to measure their own ECG (US/UK/Europe) )-Only for now).

Performance - Speed

A major upgrade to Apple Watch 2 is the internal S2 dual-core processor. For Apple Watch 3, although Apple said that they have upgraded the processor, we still encounter rotating icons when trying to enter certain applications.

Apple Watch Series 4 has an upgraded processor, which is said to be twice as fast as S3 and is called S4. It also has a next-generation wireless chip called W3. Many hardware features are the same as Series 3, including barometric altimeter, built-in GPS and optical heart rate sensor, but Series 4 does add some additional features.

It can be seen from this Apple Watch specification comparison table that the latest Apple Watch 4 is the most upgraded version in the entire series. The larger the display, the heavier the weight. The memory has doubled, from Apple Watch series 1-3 8GB to 16GB. The operating system has also been upgraded to version 5, which supports more advanced heart rate functions and other functions mentioned.
