Guidelines for connecting Android devices and PCs with XScreen Air wireless portable displays

 

Connect Dongle

There is a dongle in the package when you buy the XScreen. You need to connect it to the Micro-USB port of XScreen via the shortest wire. 

 

The picture is a demonstration for you to know how to connect them.

Mobile device

  

The most simple approach of connection

 

  1. Long press the “MENU” button on XScreen to switch on the portable monitor.
  2. Connect to your own usable Wi-Fi network.
  3. Open the “Smart View” on the status bar and choose the XScreen (SSID).

 

After the above steps, the details on the small monitor of your mobile can be enlarged and show on the large screen of XScreen. Also, you can browse the internet when you are using the “Smart View” (or it calls “Wireless Projection”.) to connect your XScreen.

The complicated approach (if the simple method cannot be used)

Connect to XScreen

 

  1. Long press the “MENU” button on XScreen to switch on the portable monitor.
  2. Go to “Setting” on your mobile phone.
  3. Open  the “Wi-Fi” setting and search for your XScreen (The SSID displayed on the top column on the opening interface of XScreen.)
  4. Type in the password ( The PSK displayed on the top column on the opening interface of XScreen).

      5a. Open the “Smart View” on the status bar and choose the XScreen (SSID).

According to the above steps, you can view the duplicate monitor of your mobile device on your XScreen portable monitor. After the first time of setting, you can skip steps 2 to 4 to connect XScreen which is turning on the portable display, and then open “Smart View” on your mobile. But you cannot connect to the internet by the above few steps since you haven't connected to available Wi-Fi.

When you want to stop your smart view projection (duplicate monitor), you can click the “Smart View” again to stop it.

Connect to WiFi (XScreen)

If you want to browse the internet, you need to connect to WiFi. There are more steps for you to connect your XScreen portable monitor to WiFi. After the above step 1 to 4, change the step 5a into the step 5b below. 

 (The IP address displayed on the right bottom corner on the XScreen, you can see the IP address after you connect your iPhone with Xscreen in WiFi setting successfully).

     5b. Open your browser and type in the IP address on the address bar.

       6. You can see a page named “WiFi Setup” like the following picture.
       7. Select WiFi you currently use and enter the password of that WiFi so as to connect XScreen to the WiFi which can use the internet.

After the above steps, your XScreen Air wireless portable display can connect to WiFi.  If the XScreen connects to the WiFi network successfully, the name of your WiFi will be viewed on the upper right corner of the wireless portable monitor.

Connect to WiFi (Your device)

       8. Go back to your mobile “Setting” and connect your mobile to the WiFi

      9a. Open the “Smart View” on the status bar and choose the XScreen (SSID).

After these steps, you can connect your mobile with XScreen and browse the internet through WiFi. A duplicate screen can be demonstrated on the wireless portable monitor.

When you want to stop your smart view projection (duplicate monitor), you can click the “Smart View” again to stop it.

 

Performing different tasks on XScreen and your mobile device

 

Sometimes you may want to achieve background playback. Please follow the steps below. When your mobile device is performing other tasks, you can play music or videos of apps that support Smart View on XScreen. After the above steps 1 to 8, change the above step 9a to step 9b below.

 

    9b. Open the apps which can support “Smart View”.

    10. Open “Smart View” on the app.

    11. Select the SSID of your XScreen.

 

In this setting, you can perform different tasks on the mobile device and XScreen respectively. For example, when you play a game on a mobile device, you can play Youtube videos on XScreen.

When you want to stop your smart view background playback, you can repeat step 10 to 11 to click the XScreen (SSID) again to stop it.

 

Laptop+PC

The most simple approach of connection

 

  1. Long press the “MENU” button on XScreen to switch on the portable monitor.
  2. Connect to your own usable Wi-Fi network.
  3. Right-click the desktop to open the “Display settings”. You will see a page called “Display”
  4. Scroll the mouse wheel down to find the function “Connect to a wireless display”.
  5. Select your XScreen (The SSID displayed on the top column on the opening interface of XScreen.

 

After completing the above steps, you can use the large screen (XScreen) to view the small display of your mobile device. In addition, when you connect to XScreen using this method, you can access the Internet.

Connect to WiFi (XScreen)

(The IP address displayed on the right bottom corner on the XScreen, you can see the IP address after you connect your iPhone with Xscreen in WiFi setting successfully).

       5. Open your browser and type in the IP address on the address bar. 

       6. You can see a page named “WiFi Setup” like the following picture.

       7. Select WiFi you currently use and enter the password of that WiFi so as to connect XScreen to the WiFi which can use the internet.

The above steps are used to help XScreen connect to WiFi. If XScreen is successfully connected to the WiFi network, the WiFi name will be displayed in the upper right corner of the wireless portable display.

Connect to WiFi (Your device)

       8. Go back to the “Wi-Fi setting” of your laptop and connect your laptop to the WiFi that you just connected with Xscreen (or any WiFi even if it is not the same with the WiFi that you just connected with Xscreen).

       9. Right-click the desktop to open the “Display settings”. You will see a page called “Display” 

       10. Scroll the mouse wheel down to find the function “Connect to a wireless display”.

       11. Select your XScreen (The SSID displayed on the top column on the opening interface of XScreen.

Then, your Xscreen will become a duplicate monitor or an extended monitor. You can set XScreen as screen mirroring or dual monitors via "Multiple Monitors".

How To Set Up Dual-Screen And Screen Mirroring On XScreen Portable Monitor?

 

After the first time of set up (Mobile device)

 

When using XScreen and the device for the first time, you only need to complete the above settings. After the first setup, there is no need to connect XScreen to WiFi again. XScreen will automatically connect to the remembered WiFi settings. It can reduce steps.

 

  1. Long press the “MENU” button on XScreen to turn on the portable monitor
  2. Use your mobile device to connect to a WiFi network
  3. Open the “Screen Mirroring” on the status bar and choose the XScreen (SSID).

 

For step 2, the Android device can connect to any available WiFi because you don't have to connect the device to the same WiFi as XScreen. You can connect to other WiFi networks, connect to XScreen SSID, or use your own mobile data. You can connect to any WiFi to access the internet.

 

If you change WiFi or go to a different area of ​​other WiFi (which will cause you to connect to another WiFi network), you need to connect to the new WiFi and you need to set up XScreen again through the above steps.

For step 2, the Android device can connect to any available WiFi because you don't have to connect the device to the same WiFi as XScreen. You can connect to other WiFi networks. You can connect to any WiFi to access the internet.

 

If you change WiFi or go to a different area of ​​other WiFi (which will cause you to connect to another WiFi network), you need to connect to the new WiFi and you need to set up XScreen again through the above steps.

 

In addition, if you want to change XScreen to a repeating screen or an extended screen, you need to change it in the multiple displays.



Setting of XScreen Air

 

When you first complete the setup, you may want to change the settings of the wireless portable display. You can change the settings by IP address (bottom right corner). If the above settings are completed and the browser of the IP address has expired, you can perform the following steps.

 

  1. Open “Setting” on your mobile phone.
  2. Go to the “Wi-Fi” setting and select your XScreen (The SSID displayed on the top column on the opening interface of XScreen.)

 

In fact, after the first setup, you do not need to enter the XScreen password again. If your device forgets XScreen, you can repeat steps 1-4 of "XScreen Settings".

 

  1. Open your mobile browser and enter the IP address on the address bar. (The IP address displayed on the right bottom corner on the XScreen, you can see the IP address after you connect your mobile with Xscreen in WiFi setting successfully).

 

The IP address changes from time to time. Therefore, the IP address will expire in a few while. After connecting the device to the XScreen portable display, the updated IP address will be displayed in the same area. If you find that your IP address has expired, you can disconnect the wireless XScreen in the WiFi settings of your phone, and then connect again to see the updated IP address displayed on the portable screen.

 

  1. Click the “Return” icon on the top left corner of the WiFi setting when you see the first page is a "WiFi Setting". If you see the first page is "Setting", then keep this page.
  2. Select which setting you want to change like the “Portrait Mode”.

 

Portrait Mode

 

The wireless version of XScreen has a special feature. Sometimes, you may want to use a larger screen to read documents. However, when you mirror the screen of your phone to the second monitor, your phone screen (portrait) may be displayed on the portable monitor screen in landscape mode. The screen is still not big enough. You need this wireless XScreen portable display to demonstrate your portrait screen. After setting the "Portrait Mode" in "Settings" (IP address link), you can change the display direction settings on XScreen.

 

  1. Select the “Portrait Mode” in the “Setting”.
  2. The default portrait mode is “Off”. 

 

Off: The display direction of XScreen is landscape. Under "Off", your phone is best displayed in landscape mode. For example, you can use this mode to play videos and visit websites.

      3. If you want to display your portrait mobile screen on the portrait XScreen screen, you can drag the “Off” into “On”.

Other Setting

You can change many settings by browsing the IP address. The most common settings are to change the WiFi password and change the language.

After changing the WiFi password, you can use the updated password to log in to XScreen's WiFi (the SSID displayed in the top bar of the XScreen opening interface).

After changing the language, you can change any language, and there is no need to change it the next time you use it.
